Parks Recreation & Tourism - Roanoke County, VA - Official Website

On Wednesday, Spetember 26 at 10:30am, officials from Roanoke County Parks, Recreation & Tourism and the Roanoke Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau will announce the selection of Green Hill Park as host location for the International Quidditch Association?s Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship in early November of this year. Quidditch is one of the fastest growing club sports on college campuses nationwide. Based on the fictional sport played on broomsticks in the popular Harry Potter series, Quidditch has been adapted into a co-ed game featuring elements of rugby, dodgeball and hide-and-seek.

During this brief announcement, details will be provided about how the Roanoke Valley was chosen to host this unique event. A demonstration of the sport will be presented by members of the Virginia Tech Quidditch Team. Representatives from Roanoke County will also preview several free family activities that will be presented in conjunction with the tournament.
