June debt issuance strong; equities slump

Data: 13 insurance-related debt deals worth $4.958bn announced in June, while no significant equity deals announced at all.

Insurance-related debt issuance remained strong in June, with 13 deals worth $4.96bn announced, according to data from Dealogic. This compares with the nine deals worth $5.07bn announced in May and the 134 deals worth $3.56bn announced in June last year.

MetLife was involved in the largest deal of the month, with a $1bn capital raise. AIG, Zurich and New York Life were also involved in deals worth $500m or more.

The month was much less active for equity issuance, with no deals announced at all. This compares with two deals worth $5.98bn announced in May and six deals worth $1.57bn announced in June last year. ...
