I should have known better. I always, always, always read Amazon user reviews and I can't think of a time I didn't heed their warnings -- until now. Many reviewers stated that mybatterysupplier shipped dead (or nearly dead) batteries, but I figured those users must have received the rare bad batch. I mean, seriously, how hard is it to ship fresh batteries? I needed a CR2032, and at 5 batteries for $4.99 (with free Prime shipping), I figured it was worth a shot.WRONG!
The batteries arrived promptly and the packaging looked just as it did in the ad. The "Use By" date on the package said 2021, so I figured I was all set.
WRONG!
Right out of the package, three of the five batteries registered "Replace" on my battery meter (the $3 battery tester from Amazon -- [...]details -- which is amazing, btw). The batteries were received promptly and looked just like the picture and description. The back of the batteries were stamped with a date code of 0Y which means they were manufactured in November 2000. That means they were about 1 year old when shipped to me. I wouldn't call that real fresh but it is not too bad. Fortunately, these batteries have quite a long shelf life (years) if they are not exposed to heat. I performed a voltage test (with a small load) on the batteries. They read about 3.26 V which means they probably still have most of their original capacity. In the end, I gave these batteries a 4 star rating because I think a "fresh" battery should have been manufactured within 6 months of purchase. For me, 1 year is a bit long to say they are fresh.Help other customers find the most helpful reviews?

CR2032 batteries are standard lithium batteries rated at 3.0 volts, commonly used in computers as a CMOS battery, calculators, scientific instruments, watches, clocks, toys, remote keyless systems, and small LED flashlights. I purchased the batteries for my HP-33s calculator, which requires two CR2032 batteries.The product description reads "Strip of 5 Genuine Sony CR2032 3v Lithium 2032 Coin Batteries," and that's what I received. The "Use by" dates on the packaging were not filled in, but the back of each battery (the negative side) has "16" stamped on it, which I believe means 2016.
In any case, the batteries were fine in my calculator. I have used Sony batteries before, and they always gave good service life with no problems.
