Campaigners urging the Church of England to sell its shares in oil companies were refused permission to hold a climate vigil at February's Church of England General Synod.
However, they are now organising a campaigning workshop on the 21st of Jan at St Andrews Church, Short Street. You can find out more here: http://www.goodsteward.org.uk where there are details of how to join clergy, campaigners and others concerned about the Church's pursuit of profit from fossil fuels.
At the workshop they will be discussing the environmental impact of the Church Commissioner?s oil investments (their biggest investments worth a couple of hundred million pounds are in BP and Shell) and different forms of campaigning ? with a focus on direct action ? and bringing together ideas for future actions.
All are welcome to come along, and you can find out more via this Facebook invite.
There is also an online petition here which they are urging people to sign: http://www.petitiononline.co.uk/petition/church-of-england-disinvest-fro...
