Etihad/Aer Lingus, AITO, Thomson/First Choice, Thomas Cook | E-tid ...

Etihad Airways and Aer Lingus have signed an interline and codeshare agreement which follows the UAE national airline?s recent 2.987% equity purchase in the Irish carrier. Etihad Airways will place its EY code on Aer Lingus flights between Dublin, Manchester and Heathrow, and destinations in Ireland, the UK, the Channel Islands, Portugal, the Netherlands and the US. Aer Lingus will place its EI code on Etihad flights between Abu Dhabi and Dublin, and have full access to flights across the network beyond Abu Dhabi, to points including Australia, Asia-Pacific, the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East.

AITO Specialist Travel Agents has announced three new members. Luton-based Double S Travel, founded in 1985, specialises in leisure, cruising and business travel. Cambourne Travel of Milton Keynes, meanwhile, opened in 1974 and is a family-run business offering leisure and business travel.?And Bailey?s Travel, founded in 1988, has offices in Leighton Buzzard and Wellingborough.

Thomson and First Choice are offering soldiers and police officers who have had to cancel holidays after being called up at short notice to patrol London during the Olympic Games the chance to rebook without incurring any extra charges.

Thomas Cook Group has announced the completion of the disposal of its interest in Hoteles Y Clubs De Vacaciones (HCV) to a consortium led by IBEROSTAR Hoteles y Apartamentos. The deal has reduced the group?s net debt by c?94m. To see the announcement, click here.

Emergency services had to be put on stand-by at Glasgow Airport last week when an incoming Thomas Cook flight carrying 235 passengers reported problems with its hydraulics. The pilot on the aircraft, flying from Crete, radioed controllers when a technical issue arose, but the B757 landed safely and on time, according to the Scotsman. Click here for the full report.

VisitScotland and VisitBritain have backed a proposal to bring the opening stages of the Tour de France to Great Britain, and capitalise on the popularity of this year?s winner, Bradley Wiggins.
